Trump changes tune on Taylor Swift, sends congrats on her engagement

President Donald Trump has changed his tune on “terrific” Taylor Swift upon hearing the popstar he once claimed to hate had gotten engaged.
“I wish ’em a lot of luck,” Trump said to a chorus of laughter after a reporter said she felt the need to tell the president that “the biggest pop culture news of the year broke while we were in this Cabinet meeting.”
Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce announced their engagement on social media Tuesday after two years of dating.
“I think he’s a great player and he’s a great guy and I think she’s a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck,” the president added.
Trump once praised the 35-year-old “Bad Blood” singer before souring on her after Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. Earlier that year, Trump was recorded repeatedly saying he found Swift “beautiful,” while conceding that she “probably doesn’t like Trump.”
After Swift confirmed that suspicion by throwing her support behind Harris in September — citing LGBTQ+ rights and women’s reproductive freedoms as key issues that shaped her decision — the Republican leader posted on social media that he “HATE(S) TAYLOR SWIFT” in all capital letters.
Just this May, he claimed that Swift is “no longer hot” thanks to his comments, and said as recently as three weeks ago that he “can’t stand her.”
Despite not having the support of the one of the world’s most famous people, Trump won the election by nearly 2 million votes with the help of other celebrities including musician Kid Rock and recently deceased professional wrestler Hulk Hogan.
