Brian Daboll says Jaxson Dart will be Giants' starter 'the remainder of the season'

NEW YORK — Giants coach Brian Daboll refused on Wednesday to explain the details of his decision to bench Russell Wilson and start Jaxson Dart.
But he made clear that this is his decision, and it is a permanent one.
“We’re going with Jaxson. We’re gonna get him ready to play this week and the remainder of the season,” Daboll said. “It’s my decision.”
Daboll said Mike Kafka will continue to call plays on offense and Wilson will dress as the backup for Sunday’s game against the Chargers.
He said it’s not going to look perfect in Dart’s first start but that is normal for a rookie. And the coaches will do everything they can to help him.
“I expect him to prepare, go out here and get better each time he plays,” Daboll said. “It’s not always going to be perfect. But I do think that he has the right makeup and athleticism. We’re going to do everything we can do to help him be the best player. I know he is as well. It’s not just on one person. It’s on the entire team. And that’s what we’re going to do."
“I think it’ll be a work in progress relative to him playing in his first game,” he added. “There will be some things he hasn’t seen. We’ll try to do the best we can for him relative to our scheme. But it’s going to take everybody.”
