NEW YORK — Jazz Chisholm Jr. reignited his beef with Maikel Garcia on Tuesday, as the Yankees’ third baseman took issue with a tag from his Kansas City counterpart following a 10-2 win.

Chisholm left the game shortly after he stole third in the sixth inning. Chisholm got banged up on the play, hurting his neck. Garcia, trying to catch the throw from home while applying a tag, saw his glove connect with Chisholm’s helmet as the Yankee slid face-first into the Royal’s shin.

Chisholm, who exited with neck tightness, also hurt his right thumb on the base.

It didn’t look like Garcia did anything malicious, but Chisholm took issue with the tag nonetheless.

“Imma tell you one more time … if he tags me like that again, Imma smack the f–outta him,” Chisholm appeared to say as the ball trickled away.

After the game, Chisholm was asked about the tag.

“I just feel like every time we have a problem, it’s always been him,” he said, per the YES Network. “That’s the only reason I was so frustrated. To see that he didn’t even have the ball, for the way that he tagged me, I didn’t like it. Just frustrated, that’s it.”

Chisholm last took issue with Garcia in Game 4 of the 2024 ALDS, as he accused the Royal of trying to injure Anthony Volpe with a slide into second base. Benches cleared after that.

Chisholm also called Garcia a “sore loser.”

Chisholm previously said the Royals were “lucky” to win Game 2 of that series, making him public enemy No. 1 when the ALDS moved to Kauffman Stadium. He remained a target of boo birds on Tuesday, though he said he liked it.

“I’m not at home, so I would rather walk up to something instead of walking up to no noise at all,” Chisholm said. “I feel like on the road, when road hitters come up and there’s nothing going on, I feel like it’s just bleh.

“Go ahead and boo me. You’re giving me some music to at least walk up to.”

Royals fans should get more opportunities to boo Chisholm on Wednesday, as he said he expects to be in the lineup. Aaron Boone said the same.
