Won’t every nation one day bow to Almighty God?

on

From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham

Q: Why are Christians and conservatives, who some claim are one in the same, so opposed to diversity? Won’t every nation one day bow to Almighty God? – D.I.

A: There is tremendous diversity among humanity: linguistically, culturally, racially. Yet there is one area that is the same – all people are sinners in need of a Savior.

Our deep needs are identical the world over, for they come from within. It may sound a bit intolerant and narrow, but Jesus said that the gate to the kingdom of Heaven is narrow. People who are bothered by this truth do not comprehend that there is a narrowness in mathematics and in chemistry. And aren’t we relieved that pilots are not so broad-minded that they come into an airport any way that they want? Why then should we not be narrow when it comes to moral laws and spiritual dimensions?

Many intellectuals are asking where history is going; they are speculating on what the end will be. Christ’s prayer is, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9, KJV). This prayer, so often recited, is going to be answered. When the human race stands at the edge of the abyss, ready to blow itself apart, God will fulfill the last chapter of history. But it will be God’s kingdom, and it will come in God’s way.

“A great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb … crying out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne’” (Revelation 7:9–10, NKJV).
