Olivier Martinez hopes his son Maceo can have a "better relationship" with his mother Halle Berry in the future.
A judge ruled on Thursday (29.10.26) that Maceo, 13, will not be allowed to live with the Monster's Ball star for the time being following a two-week court battle, but Olivier has expressed hope that relations will be smoother in the future.
The 60-year-old actor told Extra: "I truly hope Maceo and his mother will be able to have a better relationship in the future... I don't want my son to hate his mom. I want him to love her. I want him to forgive her, and I want them to reconciliate in some sort at one point."
Halle, who had been sharing joint custody of Maceo, will no longer be allowed overnight visitations and will be required by the court to attend counselling sessions to repair the relationship.
However, Judge Shelley Kaufman rejected Olivier's request for a domestic violence restraining order against the X-Men actress - whom he was married to from 2013 to 2016.
Halle's lawyer Marina Beck told Extra: "We are extremely pleased that the Court has dissolved the TRO. As we move forward, Halle is determined to continue to focus on the well-being and best interests of her family."
During the trial at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Olivier claimed that Halle, 60, had choked Maceo during an altercation at her home on September 26 after an argument over virtual reality goggles.
Martinez accused his ex-wife of calling her son "such an idiot" for playing a game on the headset and alleged that there were other examples of abuse over the past 18 months.
Halle vehemently denied the allegations and stated that she was "blindsided" by her former husband's claims.
According to Us Weekly, she said in a court declaration: "Olivier never contacted me to discuss the incident, never asked for my account of what occurred, never expressed concern regarding Maceo's alleged allegations or questioned me about them or raised any issue of abuse whatsoever."
She reportedly added: "I was absolutely blindsided by Olivier's filing."
