You have questions. I have some answers.

Q: What happened to the FBI shows?

A: If we’re talking about the CBS series, “FBI: Most Wanted” and “FBI: International” have been canceled. The mothership, “FBI” with Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki, will start its ninth season on the network on Oct. 5. That night will also see the second-season premiere of the “FBI”-connected “CIA.”

There’s also a documentary series, “FBI True,” which has been on Paramount+ for eight seasons.

Can you tell if there is going to be Season 20 of “Heartland”? Great show.

A: Yes, the Canadian-made family drama has been at work on a 20th season. It will premiere on the CBC in October, with U.S. premieres expected later.

Q: Why was Amanda killed on “Will Trent”?

A: The death of the powerful, compelling Amanda Wagner (played by Sonja Sohn) shocked many viewers. But showrunner Karine Rosenthal told Variety, “this gives us the opportunity for a completely new dynamic in the [Georgia Bureau of Investigation] because her replacement will not have that same relationship with Will. Her death had the most impact on the most amount of characters. It really sets everybody reeling from this enormous loss. So it’s such a reset for our characters in a way that is painful but exciting for Season 5.”

But we’ll have to wait a while to see that, since the next season of “Will Trent” is not due until 2027.

Q: There was a beautiful Canadian actress in the ‘60s and ‘70s named Joanna Shimkus. There’s a co-host on Fox News named Carley Shimkus. Family members?

A: I cannot find any connection between the two besides their last name.

Joanna Shimkus’ major acting period was about a decade, including the films “The Virgin and the Gypsy,” (1970) with Franco Nero, “Boom!” with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, and “The Lost Man” (1969) with Sidney Poitier. She and Poitier married in 1976 and remained together until his death in 2022. Their children include the actress Sydney Tamiia Poitier.

Carley Shimkus, co-host of “Fox & Friends First,” has been with the network since 2009, starting as a production assistant. And, since we’ve been talking about family, she and her husband Peter Buchignani welcomed their second child in July.

Q: I grew up on the original "The Muppet Show” TV series. I also fell in love with a Christmas special they did with John Denver in 1979. That soundtrack is one I listened to over and over (and still do). I have a CD of the music soundtrack; it is also available on Spotify. But, in terms of seeing the TV special, I never find it able to be purchased or up for streaming. Do you know of any possibility of that?

A: From what I can find there is a tangle of rights issues, including about the music, which have kept “John Denver and the Muppets: A Christmas Together” from sale on an authorized home video, or from streaming. There are apparently bootleg copies, which I cannot vouch for, and it is on YouTube with less than ideal video and sound.
