Hank Brennan earned $566,000 for his work as special prosecutor in the second Karen Read murder trial, records show.
Brennan is a defense attorney hired by Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey to lead the prosecution in the second trial of Read on charges including second-degree murder in the Jan. 29, 2022, death of Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe, Read’s boyfriend at the time.
That trial ended last month with Read’s acquittal on her indicted charges of second-degree murder, manslaughter while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Jurors did convict her of a lesser charge: drunken driving.
Brennan sent seven invoices that cover his work on the trial from Sept. 17 of 2024 through the trial’s end on June 18, 2025. The figures amount to $566,000.
