Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez vowed to “defeat corruption in and out” as he announced a reshuffle within Socialist Party ranks — even as an ally was forced to resign over sexual harassment allegations.

“My biggest mistake has been to trust who I shouldn’t have trusted, but my determination against corruption is total, wherever it might come from,” Sanchez said in an address in Madrid on Saturday to the party’s federal committee, a key decision-making body.

Sanchez, 53, has been dealing with the fallout of a graft scandal involving two former close allies, both of whom served as high ranking officials in the party. The situation has left Sanchez at his weakest point since becoming Spain’s premier in 2018.

The party is expected to confirm a revised structure that includes a new day-to-day manager. Sanchez also announced the reinforcement of the protocols against corruption ahead of new legislative measures to be announced in parliament on July 9.

Ahead of Sanchez’s speech, the party was hit by news that Francisco Salazar, an ally of the prime minister, faces accusations of improper behavior from female party members. Salazar announced he would resign from government and party posts.
